JUSTO MEETS DR MAHATHIR FOR THE THIRD TIME, TIGHT-LIPPED ON WHY: CAN 1MDB WHISTLE-BLOWER HELP TRACE NAJIB & CO’S ‘STOLEN BILLIONS’?

PUTRAJAYA: Whistleblower Xavier Justo met Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Thursday (Nov 1), the third time they have met since Pakatan Harapan came into power.

Justo arrived alone at the Perdana Leadership Foundation building here at 4.27pm in a grey Mercedes Benz and Dr Mahathir arrived half an hour later at 5.03pm.

Justo was seen leaving the premises 20 minutes later at 5.25pm.

When contacted, the former Petrosaudi International executive was tight-lipped about the meet.

“The only thing I can say is that it is an immense honour for me and for my family to be received by the Prime Minister of your country,” he told The Star.

Justo’s first meeting with Dr Mahathir was on May 20, shortly after the May 9 General Election.

He was seen at the Perdana Leadership Foundation the next day for another meeting with the Malaysian premier.

Justo was similarly coy about his what was discussed with Dr Mahathir then.

His third meeting with Dr Mahathir comes as investigations into former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor’s role in the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) financial scandal intensifies.

The couple have been questioned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and subsequently charged in court over corruption allegations.

Najib is facing close to 40 counts of graft and money laundering involving RM2.6bil of 1MDB fund. His trial will be heard at the High Court.

Rosmah is facing 17 charges of money laundering involving RM17mil under the Anti-Money Laundering Act, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.

Both Najib and Rosmah have pleaded not guilty to the charges and are out on bail.

Justo is currently in Malaysia for the third time since GE14 and was a speaker at the Anti-Corruption Summit 2018 on Tuesday (Oct 30).

He is also expected to meet a number of high-profile Malaysians during his stay here.

Justo was a key figure in the 1MDB issue and it was information which he shared with Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle Brown that sparked off investigations into the fund in multiple countries worldwide.
