Dental clinic offers condolences to DPM’s family over son-in-law’s death after surgery
KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 ― The Bangsar dental clinic which operated on Datuk Syed Alman Zain Syed Alwi who later died has stepped forward to offer its condolences to the patient’s family.
The Imperial Dental Specialist Centre located in Bangsar sought to dispel speculation over the unknown death of the 44-year-old son-in-law of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
“It was a procedure that involved minor oral surgery under sedation with the presence of a trained medical practitioner,” it said in a posting on its Facebook page late last night.
“We would like to make these statements so as to dispel any public speculations or misconception as to the incident.
“We hope the public will not speculate otherwise and respect the family privacy during this difficult time. We also wish to record our deepest condolences to the family of our patient,” it added.
Syed Alman Zain was married to Zahid's eldest daughter, Datuk Nurulhidayah.
He died Wednesday but the cause of death is yet unknown. He was reported to have fallen unconscious while undergoing dental surgery at a Bangar clinic.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam has announced a government investigation Syed Alma Zain’s death.
“If there're any irregularities or non-professional conduct or something which is wrong, we have provisions in both the Medical and Dental Act to take appropriate action,” Dr Subramanian told a news conference here yesterday.
