KL shares remain higher at mid-morning
KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 ― Shares on Bursa Malaysia remained higher at mid-morning today, prompted by renewed buying support for selected heavyweights, dealers said.
At 11am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 3.91 points higher at 1,634.44 from yesterday's close of 1,630.53 points.
It opened 3.22 points better at 1,633.75.
The FBM Emas Index rose 24.89 points to 11,440.82, the FBMT100 Index gained 26.64 points to 11,135.55 and the FBM 70 advanced 31.14 points to 12,960.87.
The FBM Emas Shariah Index went up 20.35 points to 11,958.80 and the FBM Ace added 1.36 points to 5,517.89.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index perked 40.63 points to 14,261.58, the Industrial Index declined 4.09 points to 3,093.87 while the Plantation Index was 6.15 points higher at 7,456.41.
Gainers led losers 259 to 253 while 315 counters were unchanged, 884 untraded and 15 others were suspended.
Turnover stood at 464.22 million shares worth RM300.64 million.
Among heavyweights, Maybank jumped one sen to RM8.28, Public Bank surged two sen to RM19.06, TNB was up four sen at RM14.04 while Petronas Chemicals was flat at RM6.50.
Of the actives, Tiger Synergy eased half-a-sen to five, Bumi Armada was flat at 68 sen while DGB Asia earned half-a-sen to seven sen and AE Multi Holdings improved one sen to 16 sen. ― Bernama
