CONFESSIONS OF A KLEPTOCRAT: NAJIB CLEVER ENOUGH TO STEAL BILLIONS & DUMB ENOUGH TO STASH IT IN HIS PERSONAL ACCOUNTS?
Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s antics over the last couple of years have been a case study in what not to do at the termination of a political career.
Every move he has made had all the earmarks of a bitter man who has not gotten his way so his only resort was to try and destroy what he perceived was the cause of his dissatisfaction.
He blames Prime Minister Najib Razak for not straightening out matters concerning the crooked bridge and for not doing more to assist his son to become the Umno Youth chief or get one of the Umno vice president post.
Apparently Mahathir was not satisfied with his son Mukhriz being handed the Kedah menteri besar post.
In Mahathir’s mind, being Menteri Besar was not good enough as it was not fast track to the post of prime minister.
So what Mahathir had to do was step up his effort to get rid of the person who he believed was blocking his son’s future in politics; Prime Minister Najib Razak!
Mahathir knew that harping on the crooked bridge would not gain him listeners as the crooked bridge seemed to be his personal project.
Mahathir started to do his claim that the prime minister was involved in missing 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) funds.
Supposedly RM4.2 billion vanished in thin air; then some of that must have reappeared as next Mahathir claimed RM2.6 billion was missing.
If that gaff was not bad enough, he then claimed that the actual amount may be over RM5 billion and suggests that that 1MDB funds were channeled into the prime minister’s personal banking account.
So let’s get this straight.
Mahathir was suggesting that the Prime Minister was clever enough to siphon off billions, but was not clever enough to stash it anywhere other than his personal banking account!
Maybe could teach the prime minister a thing or two about ‘stashing’ funds.
People are putting up with Mahathir’s antics.
When it was made known that the money in the prime minister’s account came from a Saudi prince, Mahathir was still not satisfied; he wanted proof of how the Saudi prince came to acquire the funds and everything else which had taken place with the funds from inception to being transferred.
Even after the Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) investigation showed that the prime minister was in no way connected to any misappropriated funds connected to 1MDB and proven that money has been transferred from the Middle East, Mahathir was still not satisfied.
His dissatisfaction with the outcome of various investigations led him to bring a legal suit against the prime minister to claim money that Prime Minister Najib did not steal!
Of course during all of the spinning around here and there, Mahathir claimed that none of it was personal which was another lie told; Mahathir attempts to remove Prime Minister Razak was very personal as he realises that he does not have much time to accomplish his plot.
As a result there reached a point along the way where Mahathir was forced to swallow his pride and sought help from the DAP and the rest of Pakatan Harapan whom were mounting their own coup attempt.
Still, for all of their press conferences and rallies, their unity did nothing to produce votes in recent elections.
Days of Mahathir dominating Malaysia politics are gone.
Mahathir’s next act of desperation was to launch his Pribumi party; where he would serve as admiral, Muhyiddin Yassin as the temporary captain and Mukhriz (who openly stated that he did not want to be prime minister) the captain.
Muhyiddin and Mukhriz were supposed to be the one two punch heading to GE14 however a major hiccup along the way created a problem.
Muhyiddin seems was nakal nakal and that presented a problem for Mahathir.
Remember, Mahathir has said that Anwar Ibrahim is immoral so having already said that he of course could not allow Pribumi to be associated with anyone who is tainted as immoral!
However the interesting thing about desperation is that it makes us forget the words spoken yesterday; as we have witnessed with Mahathir reaching out to Anwar.
Mahathir in his continued effort to spin his actions says that if he can work with his sworn enemy Lim Kit Siang then he can work with Anwar Ibrahim.
Does that also mean that his next move is to appeal to Israel for help!
Mahathir has been a paradox from the start of his campaign to remove Prime Minister Najib Razak from office.
The people need a dose of ‘dramamine’ just to keep up with all of Mahathir’s spins, twists and turns!
