WITH NAJIB’S BLESSINGS OR WITHOUT? EX-ALTANTUYA MURDER SUSPECT RAZAK BAGINDA TO SPEAK AT PUBLIC FORUM IN KL
Political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda is expected to speak at a public forum in Kuala Lumpur next month.
Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (Ideas) chief executive officer Wan Saiful Wan Jan shared on his Facebook page that the forum organised by think-tank Centre for Global Affairs Malaysia (Icon) will be held on Nov 3 at the Bangunan Getah Asli.
Titled “Revisiting Democracy: Global and Domestic Trends”, the forum is scheduled to start from 7pm onwards.
Both Razak – who is currently adviser to Icon – and Wan Saiful will be speaking at the event.
Asked on the matter, Wan Saiful told Malaysiakini that he will be speaking on the Malaysian democracy trend – how it has evolved over time.
“I’ll be speaking on how the democratic practice has evolved, he (Razak) will speak more on the global perspective. He will be providing the bigger picture.
“I suggest you talk to Razak himself for more details,” said Wan Saiful.
Malaysiakini has contacted Icon and is awaiting its response on further details in relation to the event.
Razak, a close associate of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, was charged with abetting the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibu but was acquitted in 2008 without being called to make his defence.
After his acquittal, Razak spent most of his time overseas and rarely made public appearances.
Two former special operations force personnel Sirul Azhar Umar and Azilah Hadri were convicted with murdering the Mongolian national.
