How a Hate Mail About Leggings Turned into “Immense Strength”
The mother wearing leggings on the picture is Kelley Markland. She is the one who found a way to turn the hate into her strength and live her life like everyone should.
Before I start with her story, let me tell that every woman should feel comfortable within her skin. It doesn’t matter if she wants to do something about the way she looks or not.
No one is allowed to talk about how one person lives the life. There is no place for bullies or hate in this world.
Let’s hear Kelley’s story.
When I was growing up the kids called me ‘Kelley Jelly Belly. As an adult, I have been “mooed” at while exercising or out walking. – the substitute teacher from Port Orange, Florida, tells Us Weekly.
Can you imagine the torture and psychological effects in her life? I’ll give her credit for the bravery and strength right now!
She says that it was a while since the last time someone did this about her weight. Everything ended when she opened up the mail and found this hate letter.
Kelley thinks this letter came from someone she knows.
She opens the letter and found a note that says:
Women who weigh 300 pounds should not wear yoga pants!
Alongside that there is an Anchorman meme saying:
Your pants say yoga, but your butt says McDonald’s.
Can you feel the torture in those words?
After this, Kelley locked herself up in the bathroom. It broke her heart and tears were just going down her face.
That got her share something with her friends on Facebook.
At 36 years old, I am STILL being made fun of. Whoever sent this, be an adult and tell me who you are. I have never pretended to be pretty or look good in clothing. I have never tried to be flashy or show off. Wearing my ‘fun’ leggings gave me a tad bit of confidence in not looking sloppy all the time … Thank you for making me feel like absolute, complete s–t.
Luckily for her, she is not alone in this world. She has beautiful people around who are here to support her through bad and good.
It’s been three weeks since she received this heartbreaking mail, but Kelley feels much better now. She owes a big “Thank You” to all of her colleagues who wear leggings every day at school as a sign of support.
The whole situation turned into a movement where women all around the world are showing support using the hashtag #LeggingsWin
Well, Kelley, your bravery, and strength serve as an inspiration, and you are not alone out there!
