The calorie-free ‘raindrop cake’ has arrived in London – here’s how the unusual vegan dessert is made
The raindrop cake is a crystal clear cake shaped as a water droplet. Yamagoya restaurant in London is now making the dessert, which only contains water, and sugar, and agar powder – a natural gelatine substitute.
The little ingredients make the cake basically tasteless and calorie-free. It is usually served with sweet molasses syrup and roasted soybean flour.
It is inspired by the Japanese dish “mizu shingen mochi.”
