BOMBSHELL – 1MDB ‘UNITS’ WORTHLESS BY NOW? IS THAT WHY PARLIAMENT BANNED QUESTION ON HOW MUCH NAJIB’S CAYMAN ‘UNITS’ WORTH & WHICH IS THE CUSTODIAN BANK?

THE rejection of questions related to 1MDB only raises doubt on the real value of the units parked under the custody of an international bank by the state investor’s subsidiary arm, Brazen Sky Limited, Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua (DAP) said.

His five questions were among the 30 from the opposition on 1Malaysia Development Berhad that were rejected by the speaker at the start of the second sitting this year.

“I only asked reasonable and valid questions on replies given in Parliament by the minister and official statements made by 1MDB. They could give me a one liner. I just want to know what is the value of the present unit in the custodian bank and to give us the name of the bank.

“Are my questions a figment of my imagination? It’s not,” said Pua.

Minister in charge of parliamentary affairs Azalina Othman dismissed any “cover-up allegations” as “utterly baseless”.

He added that this only showed that Parliament is trying to impose a blanket ban on questions related to 1MDB.

“The speaker and the minister’s refusal to answer the questions has raises doubts or further confirm a suspicion that the value of the remaining units owned by 1MDB was less than what was stated. That is why they refuse to answer it,” he said.

Speaker Pandikar Amin, Pua said, has unquestionably and possibly irreversibly damaged Parliament’s reputation.

“Instead of leaving a legacy of reform which will lead us to the heights of a first-world parliament, he has now disgraced the highest legislative institution of the land  .”
