Panic as cobra found in Labuan school lab
LABUAN: Hundreds of students of a secondary school here flew into a panic when a cobra was discovered in the school’s laboratory about 11am today.
The two-metre-long greyish snake was found by SMK Pantai students who immediately alerted their teacher.
Labuan Fire and Rescue Department director Zainal Madasin told Bernama the department’s operations room received a call from a school teacher at 11.25am and immediately dispatched a team to the school.
“Our team sped to the scene before the snake could go somewhere else.
“It could have been very dangerous if the cobra had escaped into the school grounds.
“We took extra precautions when dealing with the cobra, as it can be dangerous. Fortunately, no student was hurt.”
He said his team caught the snake within minutes and surrendered it later to the Wildlife and Parks Department.
