Manyin can bring change, community leader says
KUCHING: A Bidayuh community leader for Kuching division voices his confidence that Dato Sri Michael Manyin will be able to bring change for the development of youth and sports in the state.
Temenggong Austin Dimin Niyon believed that Manyin could do this besides uniting the people.
According to Dimin, Manyin could bring change to the state in whatever portfolio he holds, as can be seen when he was minister of infrastructure development and communication.
“I believe that with his present portfolio he (Manyin), he will be able to impact the field of sports and unite the people,” he said.
He was asked to comment on the appointment of Manyin as minister of youth, sports and solidarity in a new cabinet line-up announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan on Friday. Dimin hoped the appointment would help enhance sports and unity among people, including the Bidayuhs.
On the cabinet line-up, Dimin said it was a good team, representing various races in the state.
He said with two deputy chief ministers, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah and Tan Sri James Masing, the voice of the Dayak would be heard louder for them to enjoy more development, particularly in rural areas.
