Police detain 20 illegal racers in Ops Khas
BALIK PULAU, June 12 — Police detained 20 car drivers during Ops Khas for taking part in illegal racing activities at Jalan Teluk Bahang, here heading towards Balik Pulau early this morning.
Southwest Traffic Enforcement Chief ASP Mohamad KA Razak said that the operation was conducted by 15 policeman at about 1am after receiving complaints from the public that it was common during weekends.
“They had complained that their sleep had been interrupted by the loud car noises,” he told reporters here today.
Initial police investigations revealed that one of the drivers had no valid driving licence and his car was seized.
Meanwhile, some 10 cars were found to have been modified and did not follow the specification set by the Road Transport Department, forcing police to seize the cars as well. — Bernama
