Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz said the country had come thus far upon its journey as a developing nation, hence maintaining great credibility and integrity was crucial going forward. — file picture KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 — Former international trade and industry minister Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz has called on the people to unite and work together towards ensuring that the country casts a bright light on the global economic radar screen.

She said the country had come thus far upon its journey as a developing nation, hence maintaining great credibility and integrity was crucial going forward.

“We’d planned to become a developed nation by 2020, (but) we have issues that (still) have to be resolved.

“We came from a state of very low development. We’ve advanced so far. Let’s not spoil this by having extraneous matters creep in,” she said on Astro Awani’s Obviously Harith Iskander last night.

Rafidah, who is also AirAsia X Bhd chairman, said the people should not politicise religious, racial and educational matters as it could lead to anxiety, divisiveness and fractious relationship. — Bernama
