Liow: Positive outlook for 2017 Budget

liowKUALA LUMPUR: MCA president Liow Tiong Lai expects a positive outlook in the 2017 Budget because of Malaysia’s bright economic growth from various projects being carried out under the government transformation
programme.

Among the projects are the Greater Kuala Lumpur project to transform the region into a world-class metropolis.

“Greater KL will be the catalyst of the nation’s economic growth, other projects which will boost Malaysia’s economy include the Light Rail Transit extension project, Mass Rapid Transit, the High-Speed Rail project linking Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, Bandar Malaysia and the Tun Razak Exchange,” he said.

Liow disclosed this to reporters after attending a budget workshop organised by MCA to gather suggestions and ideas from Chinese non-governmental groups and businessmen in the budget for next year.

He said other factors aside domestic growth were the Asean Economic Community, the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement, and the One-Belt One-Road Economic Plan with China, which would enhance Malaysia as a
conducive environment for economic trade.

He said during the workshop, participants had raised issues and proposals among others on personal and company tax, foreign workers, education and skill training programmes.
