Actress Lily James strips down for new role

As Lady Rose in Julian Fellowes’ period drama Downton Abbey, she was the rebellious English rose.

In real life, 27-year-old British actress Lily James seems to have a fairy godmother too as she clinches a new role as the new face of My Burberry Black fragrance, by the British luxury fashion house.

In James’ first marketing campaign for My Burberry Black she was photographed by Mario Testino wearing almost nothing – somehow in line with fragrance brands’ obsession of shooting its muse au naturel.

A new addition to the My Burberry collection, My Burberry Black Parfum is an intense and sensual interpretation of the iconic fragrance My Burberry. Hence, in the shot the gorgeous and talented James does her best intense and sensual interpretation of the fragrance, which is likely easier in a state of undress.

Created by chief creative and CEO Christopher Bailey in collaboration with renowned perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, the fragrance is inspired by the black Burberry Heritage Trench Coat.

How did the brand capture sensuality in a scent? By fusing top notes of jasmine flower, heart notes of candied rose and peach nectar, and rounding off with amber patchouli.

The new My Burberry Black is a precious Parfum or pure perfume, which has a higher concentration of fragrance oil compared to an Eau de Parfum.

Reflecting the details of the black Burberry Heritage Trench Coat, the fragrance is housed in a rich, amber-coloured glass bottle. A dark horn-finish cap echoes its distinctive buttons and the hand-tied black English-woven gabardine knot – made in Castleford, Yorkshire – honours the weatherproof fabric invented by Thomas Burberry over 100 years ago.

The bottle is presented in a black box with a gabardine-inspired texture, embossed with a golden knot.

Just as with My Burberry Eau de Parfum and Eau de Toilette, customers will be able to personalise their My Burberry Black bottle with up to three initials through the monogramming service available on Burberry.com and in selected Burberry stores.
