NAJIB’S ‘PARIAH STATUS’ STARTS TO SHOW: MALAYSIA NOT INVITED TO G20 SUMMIT, WHILE S’PORE, THAILAND, INDONESIA GET RED CARPET
The 2016 G20 Hangzhou summit currently the eleventh meeting of the Group of Twenty (G20). It is currently being held on 4–5 September 2016 in the city of Hangzhou (province of Zhejiang).
It is also the first ever G20 summit to be hosted in China and the second Asian country after 2010 G20 Seoul summit was hosted in South Korea.
The G20 (or G-20 or Group of Twenty) is an international forum for the governments and central bank governors from 20 major economies.
It was founded in 1999 with the aim of studying, reviewing, and promoting high-level discussion of policy issues pertaining to the promotion of international financial stability. It seeks to address issues that go beyond the responsibilities of any one organization.
The G20 heads of government or heads of state have periodically conferred at summits since their initial meeting in 2008, and the group also hosts separate meetings of finance ministers and central bank governors.
The members include 19 individual countries—Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States—along with the European Union (EU).
The EU is represented by the European Commission and by the European Central Bank. Collectively, the G20 economies account for around 85% of the gross world product (GWP), 80% of world trade (or, if excluding EU intra-trade, 75%), and two-thirds of the world population.
Singapore and Thailand have been invited to attend this year’s G20 Summit in China. Malaysia has not been invited. Indonesia is already a member of the G20.
What does this mean? It means that we are not relevant to the G20’s discussions about the global economy.
Our PM is an intellectual midget. So is our Finance Minister. So is the entire team entrusted with finance and economics in this gomen. Gross incompetence – the whole lot.
But who cares? So what if we are not a participant in the G20?
The UMNO supporters dont care. G20? Apa benda tu G20? How is G20, U20 or F20 relevant to them. Jangan buang masa gua ok?
