Dr M: I am the public transport trailblazer, not Najib
Dr Mahathir Mohamad believed that his administration had built the foundations used by the Najib-administration to improve public transportation.
"He was just continuing what I started. If I didn't start he wouldn't know what to do," Mahathir told reporters when met in Kuala Lumpur today.
Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has been parading his achievements with public transportation since the Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) MRT line was opened in its entirety last week.
The prime minister had taken a veiled swipe at Mahathir during the launch, saying the SBK line was completed ahead of schedule because the contract wasnot given to cronies.
Besides the SBK line, the Najib-administration has also extended the Kelana Jaya and Ampang LRT lines, besides planning two further MRT lines, the East Coast Rail Link, and a high-speed rail from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur.
The Kelana Jaya and Ampang LRT lines were built during Mahathir's tenure as prime minister.
On Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak call for Malaysians to never forgive the Mahathir-administration misdeeds, Mahathir said there was a cleaner government during his time.
"I have learnt a lot from my past. At least during my time, we don't have somebody stealing money, stealing government money.
"That's what I've learned from the past. Don't steal government money. Don't use bribes to gain support," the Pakatan Harapan chairperson said.
Salleh in a blog post last night, said Mahathir's past actions should not be forgotten, in order to chart a better future. -Mkini
