This is actually last year's news (June 2016).  But it has gone viral again. Malaysia Chronicle has posted it. 

Since the situation in Malaysia has become even more worse, it is worth rereading what an international observer said a year ago.

greatest threat to Muslim world is not the West

but rather, corruption, incompetence in the Muslim countries 

(My comments : Dr Azeem Ibrahim is a Cambridge University graduate. His choice of the word "incompetence"  is a polite and diplomatic way of saying bodoh bangang, bodoh macam pintu, bodoh piang, bodoh bahalol, kaum DNA bahalol. I am an American university graduate.)

number of crucial pieces of evidence

1st - clear inverse correlation between  corruption and econ development globally 

2nd Muslim countries most corrupt in the world

this maps well to the problems from the region.  

abundance of natural resources has served to mask problems

(My comments : This means they simply use oil money to wallpaper all the cracks and all the rotten crap in their houses. So much so that their houses are ultimately held up by paper.)

per capita wealth in region comes out much higher than it would have been 

distorts the perception of  societal problems in these countries.

(My comments : Just like in Malaysia. We have been burning oil money and giving it free to the cronies, the GLCs, the NEP policies, the subsidies, the freebies etc. Too many people, especially the handout dependent Malays and bumiputras have been enjoying  "per capita wealth in the  region . . much higher than it would have been".

And this really  "distorts the perception of  societal problems in these countries".  Now with the oil money drying up or the corruption and wastage burning up all the oil money, we find that the Malays and bumiputras (aka the "muslim society") is suffering severe withdrawal symptoms. Without free to burn "oil money" they cannot sustain themselves.)

For another, that abundance of wealth can be used to buy off the acquiescence of the population to an otherwise questionable regime, as is the case with the benefits that these states lavish upon their population, or alternatively, can be used to fund extensive repressive police and intelligence apparatuses to keep the population in check, as was the case in Saddam-era Iraq.
 

(My comments :  Alamak !! This is exactly what is happening in Malaysia. BR1M, crony projects, RM1.6 Billion to silence Felda peneroka, bonuses for Civil Servants, bantuan beras for retired Civil Servants etc, a very compliant Police, a very 'saya ikut perintah' Attorney General, an obedient Speaker of the Parliament are all necessary to keep the population in check.)

notably Turkey and of Malaysia.

Malaysia secure and naturally wealthy country 

track record of success in development (under Dr Mahathir)

suffering entirely from self-inflicted wounds
 

M'sia, Turkey inherited and sustained ethos of modernism, civic-mindedness 

emulated successful countries in the West. 

they reaped benefits of social, political stability, econ development

most economically developed Islamic countries in  intn'l rankings

I fear we are about to witness a very cruel experiment

Breakdown of institutional functioning

INSTITUTIONS TURN ROTTEN IN MALAYSIA BUT NAJIB IS THE MAIN CULPRIT

In Malaysia breakdown in institutional functioning and credibility 

M'sia will join Middle Eastern countries in infamous club of corrupt and barely functioning states. 

Malaysia has been betrayed by its Prime Minister Najib  Razak. 

wasted no time in milking the state dry for his own personal gain  and family.

US$1b siphoned  into PM's and his relatives’ bank accounts from 1MDB

further  $5 billion are unaccounted for.

Turkey, M'sia cant hide behind usual excuses about West or colonial crimes.   

Both confident, independent nations

carved a way for  themselves through hard work and diligence

efforts which yielded good life to majority of citizens.

Malaysia suffering entirely from self-inflicted wounds. 

has let its guard down

has let corruption infest highest levels of government.
 

country will tragically end up as perfect case study 

problems of Islamic world stem primarily from  domestic corruption
