Yoursay: Mas Ermieyati, Nazri, Najib – who to believe in Imams flap?

YOURSAY | Yet another episode of 'Comedy of Errors'. It looks like no one knows the script.
Mushiro: This is damage control. Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz is trying to keep both non-Malay and Malay votes.
But there is no coordination between the minister and his deputy.
The deputy minister, Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, clearly said she was not aware that a non-bumiputera was the COO (chief operating officer) of the company tasked to run the Integrated Manasik Monitoring System (Imams).
She later said she had made the replacement. If Nazri is now insisting that the non-Muslim COO was not the reason for cancelling Imams, then what is the reason for replacing the non-Muslim COO?
Turvy: Maybe Nazri is right, maybe he is not, but no one believes anything that is said in this land that is ruled without any morals or a sense of what is right or wrong.
There is a stench here whose source is not immediately obvious. Oh, the official responses stink, but that is smell we are familiar with, as the stink of rotting flesh is familiar to those living close to abattoirs.
One has to ask who made the decision to hive off the fate and costs of millions of pilgrims to a private enterprise, Muslim COO or not? And why this was thought necessary?
Are there not enough Islamic organisations to look after this most important of rites, or are they too busy with mundane things like snooping into private lives?
Whenever there is a buck to be made at the cost of the rakyat, unholy partnerships spring to exploit the opportunity. It looks like they were caught out this time.
Anonymous 278451459939581: I’m very impressed that the deputy minister was nearly in tears over Imams – and surprised that she did not follow Shahrizat Abd Jalil's example and weep.
After all, a cardinal sin has been committed - a non-Muslim has been appointed to a senior position in the (allegedly) crony company designed to burden the pilgrims heading to the Holy Land.
Will the "non-Muslim" expose the hypocrisy and deceit of the motive behind this scheme? Will he name names?
Certainly, this is something to weep and cry about. Or, was Mas Ermieyati worried that she will be sacked?
Anonymous 2436471476414726: Who do we believe, Mas Ermieyati or Nazri or PM Najib Razak? Each has his or her own version.
Whatever it is, the Tourism Ministry really bungle up big time here and the blame lays squarely on the big talking Nazri.
And he is trying to blame his officials for not understanding what he wants. What a coward. Why can't he do the honourable thing and accept responsibility instead of reducing his deputy to tears?
This is not the first time Nazri has come out with stupid policies without properly thinking the consequences. Remember the hotel tax episode when he also chided a minister from Sarawak and called him a ‘budak’ still wet behind the ears.
Najib should now do the right thing, which is to sack Nazri. But perhaps Najib does not have the guts to do so.
Kangkung: As usual, the more you open your mouth the more you reveal. Nazri, you decided to cancel it because you disagree with the RM90 fee to process the visa? We know the Umno government too well.
EmEmKay: Indeed, after so many articles written about this issue within a span of 12 hours, the minister is choosing to misdirect the issue thinking that we are stupid.
Falcon: I feel sorry for the untested and incompetent deputy minister who at least is honest.
But she is now caught in the stench of hypocrisy, double talk, lies, more lies, extreme racial and religious prejudice which shines through, embarrassing all that the founding fathers and mothers stood for and sacrificed decades past.
When, where and how will all this super extreme prejudice end?
Gaji Buta: Surely, Mas Ermieyati must now be charged with sedition for making extremely sensitive racial statements that has caused unease in the country, and increased animosity within the races.
Abasir: I understand that the production of the Malaysian passport (yes, the same one carried by Islamic luminaries like PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and Jakim's frequent fliers) involve the polluting hands of despicable non-Muslims at various stages of production and issuance.
This cannot be allowed to continue. Klepto bin MO1's cabinet must immediately issue a fatwa to get the Immigration Department (the same one that "facilitates-for-a-fee" the unmetered influx of Bangladeshis into Malaysia) to cease their production and ensure that all such activity is 100 percent Muslim.
Speaking Sense: Yet another episode of 'Umno: Comedy of Errors'. It looks like no one knows the script.
Peninsular Rhino: This is interesting! The PM disagreed with the Tourism Ministry’s proposal? Didn’t the proposal go to the cabinet, chaired by Najib?
It’s only when there was an outcry from the public that the PM voiced his disagreement. My guess is that he had agreed to it because it meant that there was a new source of government revenue (in addition to GST) to pay all those debts incurred by the scandalous 1MDB.
Now, faced by a backlash from the public, he sheepishly wants it to be abrogated. He probably thinks he has gained some political points by showing his concern for the people’s welfare. Who is he fooling?
Clever Voter: The impression the PM has given reinforces the general view that he is looking for a scapegoat and to shirk responsibility.
As in many cases where popular votes count, not much serious thoughts have been spent. Many will ask why not do the same for the proposed increase in KLIA2 passenger service charges and others.
A broken communication isn’t an acceptable reason. Many locals are now better informed, and perception counts a lot.
TC Chan: This was a creation of another layer of rent seekers. It appears that even the umrah is not safe from marauders.- Mkini
