Ringgit weakens against US dollar
KUALA LUMPUR (April 20): The ringgit opened easier against the US dollar today on a lack of market demand, a dealer said.
At 9.01am, the local unit was quoted at 3.8900/8950 from 3.8890/8920 recorded at Thursday’s close.
The dealer said Asian currencies continued to trade on mixed themes, but the ringgit remained exceptionally muted due to the building election risks.
“But with currency markets, including the G-10 mired in sideways activity, it’s unlikely we will see any significant shift in the local note today,” he added.
