KUALA LUMPUR: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has accepted the challenge by Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan for a debate on the Taman Manggis land sale issue.

Lim told a press conference in Parliament today that although he does not have the documents that Rahman Dahlan has in hand, he would use current information he did possess, in the form of documents from the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM).

“I’m willing to debate with the minister, even though I don’t have the relevant information. I will use the resources I have.

“In fact, he (Rahman Dahlan) will get to pick the time and place for the debate,” said Lim.

According to Lim, Seremban MP Anthony Loke had been tasked to see to the debate arrangements on behalf of the DAP.

“I’m waiting for him (Rahman Dahlan) to get back to me on this.

“I don’t care if the debate is held in public, as we have nothing to hide. If he wants to televise the event on TV3, all the better,” Lim said.

The DAP secretary-general also questioned why Rahman Dahlan had blacked out certain portions in the documents he revealed recently.

“Why didn’t he reveal the names (in the document)? Is this another government secret? If he wants to reveal something, why not go the full mile?” Lim asked.

Rahman Dahlan had earlier this week challenged Lim to a debate on the Taman Manggis land that he claimed had been sold off to a third party, and no longer belonged to the Kuala Lumpur International Dental Centre (KLIDC).
