Sacking Johor MB a ‘non-issue’, says Hishammuddin
KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Vice-President Hishammuddin Hussein today voiced his undivided support for Johor Menteri Besar Khaled Nordin amidst rumours the latter may be removed from his post.
The Defence Minister even praised the former Cabinet minister for his “extremely good” leadership in both the state government and Johor Umno, where he is the liaison chairman.
“This is a non-issue.
“If anyone is saying otherwise, I just want to say that they are wasting their time as they have no basis,” Hishammuddin, said, adding that he was not aware of any plot to oust Khaled.
Hishammuddin, who is MP for Sembrong, was speaking to reporters when met outside Parliament building here today.
Yesterday, the son of Johor state assembly speaker, Shukur Mohamad spoke of a plot by an Umno man to topple Khaled as well as Muhyiddin Yassin, the party’s suspended deputy president.
He claimed the plot included a promise of RM1 million, to be split equally among those who wished to go along with it.
When asked about it, Umno Supreme Council Member Azalina Othman said there was no reason to sack Khaled as he was performing his duties responsibly.
