Pakatan to discuss common logo at next meeting
PETALING JAYA: DAP will raise the issue of using a common logo for Pakatan Harapan (PH) at the coalition’s next leadership meeting.
DAP National Organising Secretary Anthony Loke said this in response to the recent remarks of Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) Central Committee Member S Arutchelvan that PH should emulate Barisan Nasional in using a common logo when competing in elections.
“We will discuss the matter at the meeting soon. It has not been brought up yet,” he told FMT.
Arutchelvan had said that using a common logo could prevent clashes between parties under the same coalition, as witnessed in the recently concluded Sarawak election.
Meanwhile, Amanah Secretary-General Mohd Anuar Tahir agreed with Arutchelvan’s idea, saying it had been mentioned since the day PH was formed and that all three parties had, in principal, agreed to it.
“It’s better to establish a common logo for PH before the next general election. It would prevent clashes over seats. Do we want the people to continue choosing from dozens of parties?”
PKR Vice-President Nurul Izzah Anwar said there shouldn’t be any problems with PH using a single logo.
“The problem lies with the Registrar of Societies, which delays approvals or waits for political ‘signals’ from BN.”
