‘Upgrading work at parliament house 65 per cent completed’
KUALA LUMPUR: The refurbishment of the Parliament building which houses the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara is 65 per cent completed, said Dewan Negara speaker Datuk SA Vigneswaran.
Vigneswaran said work was progressing according to schedule.
“We are satisfied with the progress of the project and I was informed by the Public Works Department’s contractor that work would be completed by February 2017,” he told reporters after visiting the site, here yesterday.
The upgrading project carried out in phases at a cost of RM520 million is expected to be fully completed by 2018 without any additional cost.
He said since the Parliament house has been categorised as a heritage building, work carried out need to be monitored closely.
