Arsenal leading race to sign long-term Liverpool target (Rumour)

It’s hard to remember a time when we weren’t being linked with Mario Gotze, and the rumours have only intensified since Jurgen Klopp’s arrival at Anfield. If we are still in for him then we’re apparently set to miss out though, as Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claims Arsenal are leading the race for his signature.

Gotze has long been a target of ours, and at times a move for the German international looked on the verge of completion. It’s been one of the biggest ‘will he, won’t he‘ sagas around, and many fans are growing tired of it.

Arsenal are apparently now well and truly back in the race for his signature, with Arsene Wenger allegedly moving closer to completing a deal for the Bayern Munich star. This isn’t the first time the pendulum has swung violently in their favour though, as every few weeks the Gotze story seems to take a different yet all too familiar twist.

It’s unclear whether Liverpool are Arsenal are still in for the 24-year-old, or even whether he wants to leave the German giants this summer. We definitely should be questioning whether he’s the right signing for us though, especially after his woeful performances at the Euro 2016 Championships.

It would obviously be frustrating to miss out on a player we are genuinely trying to sign, especially if he were to move to a Premier League rival instead. We’ve heard these Gotze stories far too often now though, so until we hear something more concrete this will be taken with a pinch of salt.
