Cops expose gang selling fake Samsung h-phones in S’wak
MIRI: A syndicate selling fake Samsung handphones was uncovered in Sarawak, with 37 handphones and tablets worth RM17,012 seized here today.
Head of the Sarawak Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry Abdul Hafidz A. Rahim said three business outlets were raided at 11.50am today.
All the fake phones seized were being sold at the original prices of between RM800 and more than RM2,000.
“This is the first case in Sarawak. The trader also charged the goods and services tax to convince buyers that their products were original when they were actually fakes,” he said at a press conference here today.
Hafidz said among the handphones seized were Galaxy Note 5, S7 and Galaxy Tabs.
“The trader did not give a warranty to the buyers,” he added.
Besides the handphones and tablets, Hafidz said four fake power banks, which were also sold at RM30 under the Samsung brand, were also seized.
