Bursa shares turn negative at mid-morning
KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 — Bursa Malaysia turned negative at mid-morning today on lack of buying support and tracking its regional peers.
At 11.10am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 4.95 points to 1,645.56 from yesterday’s close of 1,650.51.
It opened higher by 1.14 points at 1,651.65.
Market breadth was negative with 332 gainers and 197 losers, while 304 counters were unchanged, 871 untraded and 15 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 740.59 million shares worth RM436.28 million.
Hong Leong Investment Bank (HLIB) said the local benchmark key index remained cautious ahead of the US Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) next week and the uncertainty surrounding the looming Brexit.
“A break below the 1,650.00 level will see further selling pressure,” it said in a note.
Of the actives, Trive Property added 1.5 sen to 8.5 sen, Borneo Oil gained half-a-sen to 15 sen and Vsolar rose one sen to 12 sen.
Among heavyweights, Maybank was flat at RM8.25, TNB increased eight sen to RM13.98 and Public Bank bagged six sen to RM19.10.
The FBM Emas Index eased 23.21 points to 11,521.66, the FBMT 100 Index shed 23.46 points to 11,212.86, but the FBM 70 improved 9.31 points to 13,056.31.
The FBM Emas Shariah Index gave up 48.88 points to 12,069.09 and the FBM Ace decreased 9.90 points to 5,493.23.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index slid 1.80 points to 14,251.13, while the Plantation Index was 0.41 point higher at 7,595.59 and the Industrial Index rose 0.23 point to 3,084.82. — Bernama
