Government assures Sungai Gampa Road to be repaired

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: The government of Banjarmasin convinced citizens of Sungai Gampa, North Banjarmasin, that their damaged road to be immediately repaired, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

“Sorry, the road repairment should have been done early this year. But because there is a problem with the auction to partners, then the construction of the road delayed,” Head of Highways Agency (Bina Marga) Gusti Ridwan Sofyan told reporters here on Friday.

It is to respond to local residents who claim the promise the government to build their road in 2016. The existing roads in the area were badly damaged, but until now there is no sign there would be construction or repairment.

According to Ridwan, actually there is no problem concerning the budget, unless the tender auction to be repeated to partners. But he hopes everything will be completed and the road to be immediately repaired.

Only he mentions the funding provided was not sufficient for the construction of a paved road, but with a concrete system. Being only two meters width, which means only enough for two-wheeled vehicles, the car can not be skipped.

Previously a number of residents expected the municipal government to repair the road in Sungai Gampa whith the length is about five kilometers which was severely damaged and difficult to pass.

Based on the description of the road improvements can not be permanently paved, constrained by rules within the Spatial Plan (RTRW) as a green area.

Citizens expect their areas get a touch of the development, especially roads, because it is located in the city of Banjarmasin, the same as other citizens in the capital of the province.

One of the midwives at Sungai Gampa health centers Diva Nadia said she was deeply trouble by damaged roads when on duty.

Therefore, she said, when a patient need to get a referral to a hospital had to ride a boat or kelotok (small motorized boats).

“The boat ride is very long journey, but if by land if the road is good only about 30 minutes to the hospital,” she said.

In this region there are also several schools in which teachers and students back and forth to the River Gampa from other surrounding areas only by boat.
