Leicester and Southampton join the race for Joe Allen
The race for Joe Allen’s signature is hotting up, with The Times reporting that both Leicester City and Southampton are now keen on the player.
Allen has found himself in limbo in recent weeks; he has been one of Wales’ best players at Euro 2016, but has neither been offered a new contract by Klopp, nor officially been told he can leave.
Southampton are looking to buy a replacement for Victor Wanyama who has joined Spurs, while Leicester are facing up to the reality that they could lose key man N’Golo Kanté.

The Southampton rumour is an interesting one, especially given our ongoing pursuit of their hit-man Sadio Mane. Could a part-exchange deal be negotiated?
Swansea were thought to be leading the race for Allen, but their full-back and Wales teammate Neil Taylor is unsure whether it’ll happen:
“He’s going to cost a lot more money now, isn’t he, so I don’t know,” he said. “God knows, we’d love to have Joe back at Swansea. But I think the fact of the matter is a lot of clubs will want him.”
