Hadi: PAS to blur lines between government and opposition
KOTA BARU, June 2 ― PAS will aim to be a key, third force in local politics that advocates constructive engagement, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang told the party assembly today, signalling a readiness to collaborate with its rivals in the ruling administration.
Speaking at the 62nd PAS muktamar here, Abdul Hadi said PAS will move away from being a traditional opposition party ― one he described as only bent on “blindly opposing” ― and will now lead a political bloc that will engage with the government when beneficial to voters.
“The political blocs that exist today are either black or white; either the government or the opposition with their respective political culture. The government is bent on defending their rule… while the opposition bloc is bent only on opposing every government policy, even if it's good.
“This excessive politicking has made the people feel trapped… we want to abandon this old politics which is a burden to the people,” the PAS president said in his policy speech.
