Tom Hanks and Melissa McCarthy Singapore-bound in June
SINGAPORE, June 2 — Tom Hanks and Melissa McCarthy are slated to visit Singapore in June as part of a series of publicity events at Marina Bay Sands.
Singapore’s Straits Times added that they would be joined by directors Ron Howard, Paul Feig and Antoine Fuqua.
All five will be in the island nation from June 12 to promote their various movies and kick off fund-raising efforts for Marina Bay Sands' annual Sands for Singapore charity festival, the newspaper said.
McCarthy and Feig are part of the Ghostbusters reboot starring an all-female lead cast, which includes Kristin Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.
Meanwhile, Oscar winners Hanks and Howard will be promoting the adaptation to Dan Brown’s bestselling novel, Inferno, which sees Hank reprising his role as Professor Robert Langdon for the third time.
Fuqua will be promoting his remake of The Magnificent Seven, a reboot of the 1960 western classic that stars Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt.
Singapore has been the favoured destination for several high-profile Hollywood premieres of late, including Captain America: Civil War and The Huntsman: Winter’s War.
