PM announces promotions for 1,263 community development supervisors
In his speech at a Kemas gathering here, Najib said 920 supervisors will go from the S17 grade to S22, while another 164 will be promoted to the S27 category.
According to a 2012 government circular, the S17 grade tops out at RM2,808. S27 employees can receive as much as RM3,994. There are three sublevels in each grade.
“I hope that with the increased grades, you will be able to work harder and be more productive in the future,” Najib said.
Kemas was established in 1961 by Najib’s father, second prime minister Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, to help reduce illiteracy among adults in rural areas.
The department has since extended its programme to include educating pre-schoolers.
