Ostrich hot foots it down Federal Highway

A 25-second video clip of an ostrich sprinting down the Federal Highway has gone viral since it was first posted by local radio station BFM producer Jeff Sandhu at 3.20pm today.

According to Jeff, who saw the giant bird sprinting from Jalan Universiti and onto the highway at about 3.30pm, the ostrich was running at approximately 35 km/h.

“From the UM bus stop, it was running on that road then it merged onto the Federal Highway and it was on the fast lane, passing Bangsar South, RTM, it just kept running,” he told the Malay Mail Online.

“It started out on the slow lane then it went to the emergency lane. Then on the emergency lane it overtook a car and ran across to the fast lane. It was just switching lanes here and there.”

It was last seen passing the Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) Angkasapuri office, headed towards Kuala Lumpur.

Since Jeff Sandhu posted the clip on his Facebook at 3.20pm today, the video has been viewed at least 103,000 times.
