Anwar-Dr M reconciliation like ‘Hindustani movie,’ Umno minister says

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad meets Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the first time after 18 years in Kuala Lumpur September 5, 2016. — Picture taken from Twitter/EricPaulsenPETALING JAYA, Sept 8 ― The purported reconciliation between political rivals Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is staged and more like a Bollywood movie, Umno Selangor chief Tan Sri Noh Omar said today.

The housing, urban wellbeing and local government minister added that the move ― which some have said is a political one to strengthen the opposition ― will not have an effect on Barisan Nasional (BN) as many of the opposition's attempts to topple the prime minister, like through the Citizens' Declaration or the formation of a new political party, have been unsuccessful.

“They are noticing that everything they've been doing is not working. Now they are trying again with Anwar. It shows that they are the ones who are concerned, not us,” he said when officiating the 19th National Housing & Property Summit 2016 at the Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa.

“It is not effective. For me, I just laugh lah. It is more like a Hindustani movie,” Noh added when asked if former prime minister Dr Mahathir shaking hands with Anwar, whom he had sacked from Cabinet 18 years ago, would have an effect on BN.
