Malaysia’s mixed martial arts queen Ann Osman retires
The Sabahan is set to take on an executive role at the MMA ONE Championship where she used to fight.
KOTA KINABALU: Malaysia’s mixed martial arts (MMA) queen Ann Osman has announced her retirement after more than four years’ involvement in the sport.
Sabahan Ann, whose real name is Nur Ain Osman, is the first Malaysian woman to have fought professionally at the MMA ONE Championship.
The 31-year-old made the announcement on her Facebook account last night.
“With a heavy heart, I’m officially retiring from professional fighting, a career that brought me to the rings of the ONE Championship for four and a half years,” she said.
Ann will join the communication and athlete development unit at the organisation.
“I’m excited and thankful for this one more big step in my career and I hope everyone will give their support in my new journey,” she said.
Earlier, her retirement was announced by the chairman and CEO of ONE Championship, Chatri Sityodtong, on social media.
“Congratulations to Ann for being the first professional female athlete from ONE rings to retire and take an executive role at ONE Championship,” Sityodtong said on Facebook.
The half-Dusun lass has a strong background in martial arts and also owns a gym here and a recreational company.
She is often invited to give motivational talks. She has also modelled for retail and fashion brands.
