Less talk, more work – 1MDB committee chief on 'tell all' presser
1MDB committee chairperson Abu Talib Othman has cautioned that public statements regarding the scandal could be prejudicial to the investigation and court proceedings.
The former attorney-general said this when commenting on MACC chief commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdul's “tell all” press conference on the 1MDB scandal.
“My personal view is that the less public statements made (on 1MDB) the better because that will prejudice the investigation and any court proceedings, should there be any.
“It should be less talk, more work,” he told reporters when met after the 1MDB committee meeting in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.
The 1MDB committee was set up last Thursday by the Council of Eminent Persons to look into matters related to the strategic development fund.
Other members of the committee are Syed Naqiz Shahabuddin Syed Abdul Jabbar, Nik Shahrizal Sulaiman, Faris Rabidin and Cynthia Gabriel.
Yesterday, Shukri unleashed a slew of allegations regarding the investigation into the 1MDB scandal in 2015.
Among others, he claimed to have a received a bullet in the mail, was stalked when abroad and that the police wanted to arrest him for conspiring against the government.
His press conference was held at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya at the same time former premier Najib Abdul Razak was being questioned at the venue on the transaction involving former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International.
Earlier, DAP lawmaker Ramkarpal Singh also told Shukri to cease his public outbursts as it could give the impression that his impartiality has been compromised. -Mkini
