MACC turns guns on Umno’s Azeez in Baling, Subang raids
The raids were carried out yesterday as part of a corruption probe involving a contract linked to Tabung Haji.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has conducted raids at three locations linked to Umno Supreme Council member Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, believed to be over projects awarded by pilgrimage fund Lembaga Tabung Haji which he chairs.
The anti-graft body’s Perlis director Mohd Shukor Mahmud confirmed the raids to Malay-language daily Berita Harian, but did not state whether Azeez had been arrested.
Azeez, who is the Baling MP, retained his seat in the May 9 polls.
A source earlier told Bernama that the raids were carried out at noon yesterday in Subang and Baling, Kedah.
MACC officers have also visited the Tabung Haji head office in Jalan Tun Razak.
FMT’s attempts to contact Azeez have so far failed.
It is believed that MACC is investigating the case under Section 16 of the MACC Act. -FMT
