Adenan pledges to assist with release of hostages
KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem said the state government would help to secure the release of the recently kidnapped Sarawakians in Southern Philippines.
“Of course we will help to secure their release, ” he said when met by reporters after launching the BN manifesto at PBB headquarters today (April 26).
Adenan said the state government would liaise with the Foreign Ministry towards this end.
He then added: “Of course we sympathise with the family.”
Nine family members of the victims made an appeal for donations online last night in an effort to save the four hostages who are currently still in the hands of militants in Southern Philippines.
Relatives of the hostages set up a team in a coffeeshop at Delta Estate, Sibu to ask for donations from the public. They also made appearances at political talks that were being held at various locations around Sibu on the same night.
