Despite being threatened, ridiculed and verbally abused, as many as 1,271,997 people have signed the Citizens Declaration to save Malaysia.
The response of the people who care about the welfare of the country is beyond expectation. The founders of the Citizen Declaration had estimated one million signatures would be achieved only by year end.
But the number was reached in little more than two months since the Declaration was launched on 4 March.
1 million signatures is evidence the people are brave
Announcing it in Putrajaya, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the campaign would continue although the million mark has been reached.
Though the campaign itself cannot expel or force Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Mappadulung Daeng Mattimung Karaeng Sanrobone), Mohd Najib Abdul Razak to resign, it shows how many people want him to step down.
Dr Mahathir told a press conference he had already applied to the King for an audience to submit the results of the petition and to express the hope of the masses.
According to him, based on information received, the King has been informed of the illegal money laundering of public money involving Mohd Najib.
As one of the founders of this Declaration, I extend my many thanks to all who signed this document, especially readers and debaters of this blog.
Our struggle is not finished and I asked that we continue to publicize this campaign so that more people sign it.
We have created history by taking part in the largest-ever petition held - not only in our country but around the world.
God willing, our efforts are not in vain.
