Motorcyclist killed after crashing into road divider
MIRI: A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a road divider near Lutong Bridge here on Thursday night.
It is believed that the lone rider was heading towards Tudan from Piasau in the incident, said to have occurred around 8pm.
The man could have lost control of his motorcycle before it swerved off the road and crashed into the concrete divider — the impact of which caused the motorcyclist to be hurled about 20m away from the point of crash.
“The motorcyclist was identified as Zulkipli Mohd Asrul, and he was pronounced dead on site by medical personnel, who arrived at the scene that night,” said Miri police chief ACP Junaidi Bujang when contacted yesterday.
The body was later taken to Miri Hospital mortuary.
According to Junaidi, the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of Road Transport Act 1987.
