RMN cooperates with neighbouring countries to tackle militant threat

ALOR GAJAH: The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) always cooperates with neighbouring countries, including Brunei and Indonesia in maintaining national security to tackle the threat from Daesh militant groups.

RMN chief Admiral Datuk Seri Ahmad Kamarulzaman Ahmad Badaruddin said the cooperation encompassed various aspects including the sharing of knowledge on national security.

“I see that in terms of security, we cannot only cooperate with one country alone but it must be implemented with the countries in the region especially in tackling the threat from the Daesh militant groups.

“At the moment, we certainly give high priority in determining every member of our armed forces are given exposure especially in terms of understanding the implication not only to themselves, organisation but more importantly to the nation,” he told reporters here yesterday.

Earlier, he closed the 2016 Academic Seminar of Senior Officers titled “Towards Tackling the Dangers of the Threat from the Militant Islamic State’ here.

Ahmad Kamarulzaman said the strategic sharing in the sapects of knowledge would continue to be implemented from time to time and was expected to be extended to the other aspects according to current needs. — Bernama
