He said Lulu Group’s investment in this country via the opening of Lulu Hypermarket here was a reflection of how foreign companies were confident in and comfortable with Malaysia’s attraction as an investment destination.

“The opening of the hypermarket is a sign of confidence of the international community in Malaysia,” he said when opening the hypermarket here today.

The Lulu Hypermarket here is the chain’s 127th store worldwide.

Also present were Najib’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Najib said Lulu’s expansion to Malaysia will give Malaysians wider options and various range of quality products, spurring healthy competition among other market players and ensure competitive prices to consumers.

“I know and have seen first hand Lulu Hypermarket records, providing customers with high quality and extensive selection of goods, including a wide range of Malaysian products during my official visit to the UAE in 2014,” he said.

The opening of the 250,000 sq ft hypermarket in Kuala Lumpur was a result of Najib’s official visit to UAE’s capital Abu Dhabi where he was impressed by the high standard of operations, quality of products, service and the wide variety of products available at the store.

The Lulu Hypermarket here is the first of 10 planned outlets in the country, with a total investment of RM1.3 billion. — Bernama
