IGP: Klang Valley shootings nothing to do with terrorists

IGP Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar says the shootings which happened in Klang Valleys has nothing to do with terrorists. ― Picture by Choo Choy MayNILAI, July 2 ― Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar has brushed off reports that the shooting incidents in Batu Caves and Cheras, and the bomb explosion in Subang Jaya were acts of terrorists.

Instead, Khalid asserted that all the incidents which occured had its own reasons.

“Investigations found that the incident in Batu Caves was because two people tried to blackmail a killer who died in a shooting incident with the police.

“The two individual who blackmailed the killer impersonated as policemen. The shooting occurred when the killer found out that the duo were not policemen.

“The same goes for the incident in Cheras. There are specific reasons for it,” he told reporters after breaking of fast at Masjid Nurul Iman in Kampung Gebok, Mantin, today.

The IGP was commenting on the frequent shooting incidents recently in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor and the explosion in Puchong, near Subang Jaya.

Earlier, Khalid handed over donations to 36 widows, the poor and “tahfiz” students of Kampung Gebok.

Also present was Negeri Sembilan Police chief, Datuk Jaafar Mohd Yusof and several state police top brass. ― Bernama
