17 Philippine detained while attempting to enter Sabah illegally
KOTA KINABALU: Seventeen Philippine nationals, aged between seven and 56,were detained for attempting to enter Sabah illegally via sea over the past two days.
Sabah Region 4 Marine Police Operation Commander, ACP Mohamad Madun said the first six men, one of whom was the boat skipper, and two women, were picked up at 3.30 am after the authorities spotted them hiding in a mangrove forest area, according to Sabahkini.
He said the nine other suspects, including a woman, were detained by the Royal Malaysian Navy patrol team in the waters of Gubbin Rock near here at 3.30 pm yesterday.
Mohamad said all suspects would be investigated under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 55E(1) of Immigration Act 1959/63
