Pakatan Wants To End Bribery, Injustice, Discrimination And Inequality

Anwar Ibrahim was pardoned and allowed to go home. And he is a convicted criminal. Another 118 others have not been pardoned and allowed to go home. And they have never been tried or convicted of any crime.

NO HOLDS BARRED
Raja Petra Kamarudin
This was what Free Malaysia Today reported today:
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Hanipa Maidin said the 118 Sosma detainees have agreed to end their hunger strike, which they started on Friday.
Attorney-General Tommy Thomas said yesterday that the law would “go soon” and it was subject to consultation with many ministries.
In July, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the government would abolish Sosma, which is widely seen as a replacement of the Internal Security Act (ISA), which has been repealed.
The previous Barisan Nasional government had defended Sosma, saying it was needed to deter extremists, including those linked to the Islamic State.

Hanipa Maidin said there are still 118 people being detained without trial

The issue here is: why are there still 118 people being detained without trial?
Pakatan Harapan said they wish to abolish the many unjust laws that allow for detention without trial and that curtail freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of association, and so on. Malaysians should no longer be denied their civil liberties and democratic rights.
If you wish to prevent people from expressing their opinion you should no longer arrest them but sue them in court like what Khalid Samad is doing. Khalid is setting a good example by suing those who criticise him in spite of the promise that Pakatan Harapan made that they allow and welcome criticism.

Khalid Samad sues anyone who criticises him

Anyway, back to the question: why are there still 118 people being detained without trial? If Anwar Ibrahim could be pardoned within days of Pakatan Harapan taking power (even though he was convicted in a proper trial) why can’t these 118 detainees (who were never tried and convicted in court) also be given a pardon and allowed to go home? It is now more than 100 days since Pakatan Harapan took over.
Anwar was pardoned and allowed to go home. And he is a convicted criminal. Another 118 others have not been pardoned and allowed to go home. And they have never been tried or convicted of any crime.
Does the Federal Constitution not say no one must be denied his/her liberty without due process of a trial? Does the Federal Constitution not say everyone is equal before the law? And did Pakatan Harapan not say they want to end bribery, injustice, discrimination and inequality? And yet 118 people are still being detained without trial while Anwar Ibrahim gets to walk free.

Anwar Ibrahim, a convicted sodomite who raped his assistant, was pardoned and allowed to go home while 118 others are still being detained without trial

What is wrong with these Pakatan Harapan people? They say one thing but do the opposite. They allow a convicted sodomite like Anwar to walk free but continue to detain without trial 118 others.
There are those who argue that Malaysia still needs detention without trial laws to combat extremists and terrorists.
Now, that is a matter of opinion.
Why must Muslims who take up arms to defend their religion be regarded as extremists and terrorists? Catholics who kill Protestants in Ireland are not extremists and terrorists. Hindus who kill Buddhists in Sri Lanka are not extremists and terrorists. Buddhists who kill Muslims in Burma are not extremists and terrorists. Jews who kill Muslims in Israel are not extremists and terrorists. So why must Muslims who kill kafir be regarded as extremists and terrorists and why should they be detained without trial?

Who is Tommy Thomas, a Christian, to call these people terrorists instead of patriots?

Did not Pakatan Harapan say it wants to end bribery, injustice, discrimination and inequality?
On the issue of bribery, Azmin Ali says BR1M is a form of bribery and should be abolished. So, they are going to abolish BR1M because it is what one would call political bribery and vote-buying.
That is well and fine. But then Pakatan Harapan also practices political bribery and vote-buying by promising to abolish the GST if they won GE14. And Pakatan Harapan won a lot of votes just on the promise to abolish the GST alone. And Pakatan Harapan did abolish the GST in line with its election promise.
If paying BR1M is political bribery and vote-buying, abolishing the GST is also political bribery and vote-buying.

The reason Mahathir wants BR1M to be abolished

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad says he does not want Malaysians to think they can get something (such as BR1M) without working for it. I can agree with that. Hence if Malaysians want nice roads and highways they must pay for it. They must pay toll charges every time they drive on those highways.
If Malaysians want nice cars they must pay for it. They must pay taxes and pay the unsubsidised price of petrol.
If Malaysians want medical treatment and education they must pay for it. Medical treatment and education should not be free.
This is the only way Mahathir can teach Malaysians that nothing is free and if you want something you have to pay for it: roads, highways, medical treatment, education, etc., included. Only then can Mahathir justify his “Malaysians must not think they can get something without working for it” New Malaysia under Pakatan Harapan policy.
