Umno-owned land with tax arrears could be seized, warns Johor MB

Osman Sapian says appeals will be up to the state government to decide.

JOHOR BAHRU: Johor Menteri Besar Osman Sapian warned yesterday that the state government could seize the land owned by Umno if the party fails to settle RM330,077 in quit tax arrears since 2006.

He said it had been found that some of the land was not developed within two years or had been sold to other parties such as developers.

“There are 12 arrears with the highest involving the Batu Pahat Umno division amounting to RM287,048, followed by Tebrau at RM31,772,” he told reporters after the handing-over ceremony of the Johor contingent Sukma flag here.

Osman said appeals could be made, but the outcome would depend on the discretion of the state government. FMT
