Sunday Ruminations.

Been busy folks. Was on a short road trip to Camerons and Perak. Wonderful Saturday. Just some visuals to share today.

A friend and I attended an Indian wedding in Sungei Siput, Perak last nite. Got back home around fourteen o'clock this morning.   Fun wedding.  The local band was playing. Here is a short clip. Sorry video sideways

These folks in Sungei Siput are not any ordinary sort. They belong to the rationalist school of the great 20th century Tamil politician and thinker Periyar.

Periyar Ramasamy

Among Periyar's sayings was "You cannot expect rational thought from a religious man. He is like a rocking log in water."  I think Periyar was a Quranic rationalist.

Anyway before Sungei Siput, we stopped for coffee near Concubine Lane in Ipoh.  Here is the Big 8 boutique hotel.  They have a twin in Kuala Sepetang.  Perak tanah air ku.

Back home this morning. Decided to fly the flag at our front yard.  I have not flown the flag for quite a few years now. This Merdeka has to be extra special. This year is a liberation. Never again must we return to the Zaman Jahiliyah in this country. There is still plenty of the Jahiliyah, but we must work towards eradicating it.

Folks, below here are some wonderful cigars.  Man's best friend. I have figured out how to circumvent the trade sanctions, tariff barriers and embargoes. Things are still not right in our country. Some people are making dishonest money by raising the prices of things, especially imported goods.

Below here is my Smokers Corner at home. It is actually 'house exile'. Ha ha ha.  "Able was I ere I saw Elba".

Below here is a box of imported breakfast muesli. My wife says this box used to cost RM11 (which was already expensive).  Now it is RM27. Which is insane.   Folks, there are plenty things still not right with our country. I am saying these things because I hope to talk about these matters soon. We are being robbed. We are actually paying MORE for our goods than say the Americans or the British. Something is seriously tak betul.

Its a Sunday. Here are some books I picked up at a recent charity lunch.  Only RM5 a book !! RM35 for SEVEN really good books - some of which are brand new, still in the plastic wrappers.  Only when you hang out with the right people.

But I have some yard work to do today.

Maybe it will rain.  Then I can grab a book,  a cigar and go into 'house exile'.  Ha ha ha.
