GEORGE TOWN: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has been told to leave Sarawak by May 5, after he was granted a seven-day stay by the Immigration Department.

Lim arrived at the Kuching International Airport at 8pm and shared his Social Visit Pass issued to him.

“After 20mins wait allowed entry 2Swk only till 5 May. Not allowed in after that until Swk electn on 7 May is over,” Lim tweeted.

Earlier today, Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali was also given the same treatment and with a social pass granted to him until May 2.

Sarawak Immigration authorities usually grant a 90-day Social Visit Pass to all Malaysians.

Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem upped the ante against his detractors recently, warning the ban on politicians will be doubled up to curtail “unsavoury” figures from entering Sarawak.

He also fought off his naysayers, saying the decision to ban politicians was not confined to figures from the Opposition, but also members of BN parties.

Adenan also said DAP leaders Lim Guan Eng and Lim Kit Siang were given the all-clear to enter the state as they had “behaved themselves”.

The Sarawak Immigration Department also pledged to uphold Adenan’s call, saying it has a list of ‘undesirables’ who will be promptly deported upon arrival.

Its director Ken Leben was reported as saying the entry ban to the state applied across the board to all travellers, Malaysians and foreigners alike, as there was no double standards practiced.

Ken also stressed the ban was not exclusively against Opposition lawmakers although a number of them including Tony Pua, Teresa Kok and Teo Nie Ching were all lawmakers from Opposition party, the DAP.

He said the list of “undesirable” people was confidential and would not be made public under any circumstances.
