Immigration officer in assault video transferred to admin unit, says D-G
PUTRAJAYA: The female immigration officer who is alleged to have used force on a foreign detainee has been transferred from the enforcement Unit to the administration Unit of the Negeri Sembilan Immigration Department, with immediate effect.
Malaysian Immigration Department director-general Datuk Seri Sakib Kusmi said the department was in the midst of investigating into the video recording of the female officer which had gone viral on the media social recently.
“If the outcome of the investigation finds that the officer is guilty of violating the regulations as a civil servant, the department will not hesitate to take disciplinary action
under the Public Officers Regulations (Conduct and Discipline) (Amendment 2002),” he said in a statement here yesterday.
The closed circuit television camera footage was exposed by the Malaysian Crime Watch Task Force (MyWatch) recently, showing the female officer physically assaulting a male detainee believed not to have a valid work permit.
The video showed the officer punching and kicking the man repeatedly. — Bernama
