STAR to field candidate in hotly-contested Bukit Assek seat
SIBU: Sibu hot seat N54 Bukit Assek constituency could see a four-cornered fight in the 11th State Election with State Reform Party (STAR) the latest to join in the fray.
The party will field Moh Hiong King, 46, a local businessman, to contest in the seat, a traditional stronghold of DAP.
SUPP had already announced that it would field Chieng Buong Toong while DAP will field Irene Chang, the widow of the late Richard Wong Ho Leng, to retain the seat for the party.
Former Sarawak bodybuilder and boxer Kenny Sim Che King, 48, fired the first salvo when he announced his candidacy as an Independent candidate for the seat last September.
Following the announcement that Moh will contest in Bukit Assek, STAR would now contest in three seats in Sibu region, the other two are Simon Tiong in Nangka and Wong Sing Wei in Bawang Assan.
Newly minted STAR president Lina Soo said they also had potential candidates for both Pelawan and Dudong but stopped short of disclosing who they are.
“We will come to that at a later stage,” she added.
