Up to the public to draw conclusions on 1MDB, says Nur Jazlan

PUTRAJAYA: It is up to the people to draw conclusions on the recently published Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) report on the national sovereign fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Former PAC chairman Nur Jazlan Mohamed said the report gave a detailed picture on the 1MDB issue.

“I leave it to the people to evaluate and draw conclusions on what has been discussed by previous and present PAC members.

“What matters is that the report is produced together with the Hansard.

“That means transparency and integrity of PAC meetings have been met,” Nur Jazlan, who is also deputy home minister told reporters after handing out Excellence Awards to the staff of the National Registration Department, here, today.

Asked on his view of the report, he said it will be unfair to rate the report carried out by members before and after the cabinet reshuffle.

“Not fair for me to rate the report because I wasn’t involved in the subsequent PAC hearings.”

Prime Minister Najib Razak had a cabinet reshuffle on July 28 last year, an exercise which saw Nur Jazlan having to relinquish his post as the head of the PAC upon being appointed as the deputy home minister.

Apart from Nur Jazlan, three other PAC members were given Cabinet positions in the reshuffle; Reezal Merican Naina Merican (Deputy Foreign Minister), Wilfred Madius Tangau (MinIster of the Science, Technology and Innovation) and Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (Deputy Minister of Tourism and Culture).

The new PAC chairman is Hasan Arifin
